Events in Madeira

The Atlantic Archipelago of Madeira is ideal for conferences, pure and mixed incentives, and eco-based programmes.

The Madeira Archipelago has an area of 741 km2 and lies in the Atlantic Ocean about 1,000 km from the European continent (1½ hours flying time from Lisbon). It consists of the islands of Madeira and Porto Santo and the uninhabited Desertas and Selvagens islands, which are nature reserves.

The main island is a unique combination of a city and resort island, with luxuriant vegetation and natural landscape, where there is peace and security.

The Laurisilva Forest was classified by UNESCO as World Heritage in 1999 both for its exuberance and rarity.

The lively capital, Funchal offers a cosmopolitan life with a wide range of luxury hotels, top restaurants, markets, bars, discotheques and casino. Madeira offers seducing gastronomy; the indigenous food is based on a peasant tradition and the closer to the traditional methods of preparation and cooking, enhancing the flavours.

Their people’s tradition of hospitality, charm and friendliness, the beautiful assortment of flowers and tropical fruits, the natural pools, the wealthy cultural heritage and the multitude of social, cultural and sports activities as well as the mild temperatures, rarely dipping below 18°C, create the right conditions for all types of events all year round.

A contrast between the deep blue sea and the emerald green of the forests and mountains: this is Madeira.

"The sea on one side, the mountains on the other, and between these two majestic splendours, the city smiles like a child sleeping, safe and warm, between its parents.”  Júlio Dinis, Portuguese Writer and Doctor (1839 – 1971)
